Photo rules for India passport (35 × 45 mm)

Photos are 35 × 45 mm on a plain white background, as set out in the passport instruction booklet. If you apply at a Passport Seva Kendra, your photo is taken there. The digital photo is 630 × 810 px. No head-size range is published, so the tool uses the ICAO framing (face 70–80% of the photo).

We have not been able to confirm every number on the official page. Please check it before you submit.

How it works

  1. Take a photo facing the camera against a plain wall, in even light, from about 1–1.5 m away.
  2. Drop it in the box above. The tool finds your face, sizes it to the official rules and cleans the background.
  3. Press Create photos and download the digital photo and the print sheets.

About this tool

A India passport photo must be 35 × 45 mm with a plain white background. No exact head size is published, so the tool uses the international (ICAO) standard framing.

For online applications the tool also makes a 630 × 810 px JPG.
